I bought Food & Travel Kitchen Culture Oct 08 issue. There are a lot of Indian cooking and a section with baking with children. This is my 1st time bought this magazine. So I decide to do the brownie. It has to bake for 50 to 60 mins. However, when about 20 mins, I see that my brownie is already baked. I quickly take out and let it to cool. Still burnt on the top layer. Remove the top layer and the side which is hard. The texture is not bad. Maybe try again.
Ingredient
200g butter
185g baking chocoate chips
1 cup brown caster sugar (I use 100g)
1 cup self-raising flour, sifted
2 tbsp cocoa powder
4 eggs
Method
-
Preheat oven to 180 deg C.
-
Place butter and chocolate chips in a deep stainless bowl. Melt over simmering hot water. Set aside to cool.
-
In a large bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, sugar and eggs and mix well.
-
Add in melted chocolate and butter mixture, mix till well combined.
-
Pour into a square cake loaf and bake for 50 to 60 mins until cooked. To test, insert a cake skewer into the centre of the brownie. When it comes out clean, it is done.
